Anne Stokes is a fantasy artist whose passion for the genre began in her childhood after reading J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Hobbit. Her art covers a broad range of themes, from the romantic and magical enchanted forest, to fearsome dragons and the dark underworld of gothic vampires. Classical topics are reinvented with a strong design and impact, and new creatures are brought to life in a unique and eye-catching manner. The Year of the Magical Dragon is a Pagan representation of the annual cycle of seasonal festivals, consisting of the year’s chief solar events and the midpoints between them. The Winter Solstice, Imbolc, Spring Equinox, Beltane, Summer Solstice, Lughnasadh, Autumn Equinox, Samhain – more commonly known as Hallowe’en – are all beautifully depicted alongside one of Anne’s trademark dragons.
